Our project is fulfilling its objective and making an active contribution to the community in Panorama-Neiva by attracting underprivileged children, through music and school support. We provide them access to school activities, technical skills, ecological education which include the concept of sustainable development in the community. The combination of these areas have help them strive responsibly for ecological viability and social participation
Comuna 8, Panorama Sector of Neiva, (third city in Colombia with the highest increase in extreme poverty) is one of the poorest and most excluded settlements in the city. The police identify 23 gangs that are dedicated to drug trafficking, prostitution and other street crimes. There is illiteracy in 51% of the population. Problems such as: the lack of basic services, employment and educational opportunities, intra-family violence, teenage pregnancy and lack of access to technology.
Panorama Sostenible Foundation offers opportunities to change the lives of a community and 120 families directly, through educational support and follow-up, and a comprehensive reading club. It also provides: scholarships, uniforms, books and school supplies to 20 committed young people; provides necessary nutritious refreshments to all; trains techno academy in robotics, artificial intelligence, internet , biotechnology to15 youth; provides citizenship education for students and adults.
In six years, we have transformed the attitude of families, from apathy to empowerment. They indicate an improvement in their self-concept and life possibilities. This has generated improvements in personal and family goals. Evidence has shown that education, musical knowledge and the development of environmental awareness make responsible, hard-working and mentally healthy adults who contribute to their community and the environment, thus overcoming their poverty.
