SRHR Report from Kolkata Sanved

Three SRHR sessions were conducted during this period with nineteen Field Staff (DMT Practitioners) of Kolkata Sanved as part of capacity building sessions.

Based on the review meeting conducted by the Project Associate, a need was assessed for In-house capacity building of practitioners on several topics like Menstrual cycle, Health & Hygiene, HIV AIDS,Gender and Sexuality etc.

Topics covered during the session were : Understanding Gender Spectrum and Sexuality, Understanding the scope of vulnerability and introduction to the RPwD Act, Orientation on Health & Hygiene and practices. The PWD and RPwD Act was discussed to understand the Rights of Persons with Disability.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, OCD, ADHD are some of the disorders participants wanted to understand more about and hence were discussed in detail.

The session started with a basic introduction of health and hygiene and participants were given a task to write down a few sentences about the words “Health’ & ‘Hygiene’.

The Facilitator elaborated about KABP which is K- Knowledge, A- Attitude, B-Behaviour P- Practice.

Facilitator also shared about the differences between Personal & Public Health and effects of malpractices in public health.
A detailed discussion on personal hygiene was discussed by the facilitators which included the good practices to take care of organs like Nose, Eye, Skin, Ear.
Facilitators also mentioned the limits of taking substances like alcohol, tobacco and effects of the addiction in the human body.
