Strengthen 100 Vulnerable Households.

The Charles Edet Effiong Foundation, in its unrelenting efforts to restore the hopes of households in the southern part of Cross River State, continued its impactful initiatives in the first quarter of 2025. The focus of this support was on Educational support, Household Economic Strengthening support, Caregivers forum.

1. Caregivers Forum: The caregivers’ forum is an opportunity for caregivers to meet, share experience and provide feedback for group learning. Caregivers’ Forum held on the 18th March, 2025, in Calabar South, on the 19th March, 2025 in Calabar Municipality. A total of 23 caregivers attended were present. The focus was on supporting the academic progress and well-being of beneficiaries. Caregivers engaged on how to balance age appropriate house shores and academic work. Discussions also bothered on the provisions of materials not covered by the scheme. Caregivers also committed to engaging the teachers of their wards. There were further discussions on the provisions of the Cross River State Child Rights Law, 2023 (As amended) (CRSCRL 2023). The meeting was aimed at making the caregivers to become aware of the new provisions of the law that applies to them and their responsibility to their children/wards. We are taking deliberate steps to ensure that our caregivers are familiar with the parts of the CRSCRL 2023 that speaks to their responsibility to their children/wards. Caregiver were full of appreciation to sponsors for their contribution to helping the beneficiaries scale through school.

2. Kids Club: Kids Club is the activity that gives beneficiaries the opportunity to meet each other, learn basic skills from Foundation staff and address concerns that might bothering the beneficiaries. Kids Club was organised for beneficiaries in Calabar South, Calabar Municipality and Akamkpa Local Government Areas on the 17th and 18th March, 2025 with a total of 43 beneficiaries in attendance. It was an opportunity to interact with the Foundation’s beneficiaries. Kids Club promotes conversation and experience sharing amongst beneficiaries. The staff share basic life skills and help beneficiaries improve on their educational journey. The beneficiaries their appreciation to you, our dear sponsor for extending your hand of kindness to them through the Foundation. They note that in spite of the current economic realities, you still thought to support them. Beneficiaries sends their best wishes to you and have committed themselves to making you proud.

3. Educational Support Services: the foundation is poised to contribute to the achievement of SDG Goal 4 - Quality Education, by contributing to the educational needs of vulnerable children in the focal communities. We continue to support children to help them get through school. Educational support is on a need bases after a household visit. Through your support, the foundation is reaching 50 children in both primary and secondary levels including paying for senior secondary examination classes across Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, and Akamkpa Local Government Areas of Cross River State of Nigeria. Below is a breakdown of the children in the various class categories that were supported; • Early Child hood Care and Development - 4 (1F, 3M); Calabar Municipality LGA - 3 (2M, 1F) Akamkpa LGA- 1Male • Primary school level- 17 (9M, 8F); Calabar South - 4 (2F, 2 M), Calabar Municipality LGA - 5 (3M, 2F),Akamkpa - 8 (4 M 4 F); • Junior secondary level - 15 (12M, 3F); Calabar Municipality LGA- 1M, Calabar South LGA- 5 (4M, 1F), Akamkpa 9 (7M, 2 F) • Senior Secondary level- 14 (8M, 6F); Calabar Municipality LGA 2, Calabar South 5 (2F, 3M), Akamkpa LGA- 7 (3M 4F).

4. Next Steps: Despite funding constraints, the Foundation remains resolute in its commitment. Increase in number of beneficiaries is hinged on funding availability and sustained collaboration with partners. We hope that more people, like you, will support us to reach more children in more communities.
