Life Savers

Dear donor and friend, a homeopathic lab recently sent us a great number of medicines, which are so helpful as adjuvants for various treatments. We love this alternative to allopathy, because there are no harmful side effects, and you can’t overdose, which is important for the administration of medicines in animal shelters. The most common use is to strengthen the immune system after a rescue or illness, ease symptoms of illness, trauma or pain. Here are some practical examples of using homeopathy in our animals.
- Ollie is blind and consequently anxious and nervous. He does not digest well enough his food, and though he is an avid eater, he has the aspect of a malnourished dog. Recently he gained some weight, so hopefully, the new treatment promises success.
- After his orchiectomy, Egon got homeopathic analgesics and anti-inflammatories during his post-surgery.
- Along with traditional medicine, Emma received quite a complete treatment for her kidney failure
- The grandpa of all, Uncle Tom, needs medication for arthritis and kidney protection, and he is still the champion on the field.
- We felt so much joy, when we succeeded in the treatment of distemper in a Pitbull puppy, who is a rescue and had already survived parvovirus. We accompanied her through the respiratory and digestive phases and she has been symptom free ever since.
- Oreo was shaking and salivating, when his owners found him: he had been poisoned and there was no time to lose. His treatment was a combination of allopathy and homeopathy, though he still has a slight tic, he made it!!!
- Last, but not least, we shared a box of medicines with some befriended vets, specialists for cattle, minipigs and exotics. Happy to help!!

Picasso

Dear donor and friend, a rescue is not done alone, but when strength and goodwill come along with love and compassion, you can expect miracles. Let me introduce you to Picasso, the handsome senior of our profile. When some children found this stray, crawling on the side of the street in the hot sun, his rescuer took him in without a second thought. As our budget is quite limited, it’s so important to count on financial extra reserves. Thanks to our emergency funds, thanks to your support, we immediately could call a vet, buy bandages, medicine and food. The community sent more donations and money to buy a wheel-chair and guarantee a safe place in a shelter, where he gets physiotherapy and lots of love. Picasso is loved by everyone, he is such a charming guy with his toothless smile and his enthusiasm for life. And he became an awesome wheelie-champ, a real winner, who doesn’t know anything about limits or limitations. All dogs love the same, unconditionally.

Guaro, a very special case

A few weeks before finding him there were already posts on Facebook, a puppy of about 5 months old abandoning in the park, struggling daily to get his food, evading mistreatment and indifference of the villagers. The night of August 11, a heartbreaking cry made us leave the house, when we realized the situation was a small puppy with his upper left paw completely shrunk, a car had hurt him and he was lying down trying to take shelter from the rain and the cold of that night under a tree.
We had to shelter him that night and the next day we took him urgently to the veterinarian, the proper tests were performed, his paw was immobilized and he was given his medications. He was given into a foster home where he could get better, a few days later, he got sick, we took him back to the emergency room and he tested positive for parvovirus, we could not hospitalize him at the clinic because there were more puppies.We gave him medical attention at home, the doctor checked him and medicated him twice a day. Guaro is a very special dog, with his eyes he thanks us daily for taking him off the streets and giving him the courage and love he deserved. He came out of his virus triumphant and continues to enjoy his life as a puppy with his friend Barbas.
