Stray Bearded Dragon

Just when we think we have seen every type of stray pet brought to DoveLewis, a stray Bearded Dragon was found by a good Samaritan and brought to DoveLewis. Its toenails had been painted a teal blue color.  When it was initially brought to DoveLewis, it was lethargic and cool to the touch.  Since these animals don't do well when they are cold, the hospital staff warmed the Bearded Dragon with warm 'hot water bottles'.  After several hours, it became much brighter and began to move more normally.  The staff offered it some leafy greens, which it ate ravenously.

Stray abandoned elderly Pomeranian

This sweet abandoned stray elderly Pomeranian was found and brought to DoveLewis.  He has a congenitally deformed right hind, a heart murmur, Alopecia (hair loss) and a mature cataract in his left eye.

Stray Kitten with leg injury

This adorable 10 week-old female stray kitten  with a leg/foot injury was found by a good Samaritan and brought to DoveLewis. The good Samaritan reported that the kitten had been found hanging by the affected foot from a lawn chair and had been that way for an unknown period of time.  The kitten was brought to DoveLewis and was adopted by the good Samaritan who found her.

Stray dog with severe skin disease

This 2 year-old stray female terrier mix dog was found by a good Samaritan and brought to DoveLewis.  She had severe skin disease and Alopecia

1 week-old kitten found abandonded in a garbage ca

This tiny, stray, neonatal kitten was found abandoned in a garbage can and brought to DoveLewis by a Good Samaritan.  He was so young when found, that his eyes had not yet opened. He is now thriving in loving foster care with a DoveLewis employee and her family.

These are just a few of the over 1,000 injured or ill stray pets, birds and small mammals who are brought to DoveLewis every year.  All the humans who work at DoveLewis and the stray animals receiving care at DoveLewis send a huge thanks in advance for your support of the DoveLewis Stray Animal and Wildlife Fund, which helps make the care of all these strays possible!
