We have been getting your valuable generous support through GlobalGiving and we are thankful to you from the core of our heart.
It is very often to see of hear the activities of violence against women in several forms. In such activities, most of the cases belong to domestic violence and tease and we can clearly observe violence against women in such cases. Domestic violence has been deeply rooted in our families and the society. It is very often to see such activities in both rural as well as urban regions. Now, the problem is getting acute in the lack of awareness and knowledge.
In order to make people aware to prevent violence against women, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan has got awareness posters prepared. We first selected 10 remote villages in Pisangan block and then 100 colourful paintings of size 10" x 5" were prepared. All the paintings were made on several issues as violence against women, child marriage, female foeticide, girl education, gender inequality, dowry, save girl - educate girl to aware the whole society. The passer-byes and the villagers read the awareness messages written on the paintings and mostly they discuss the issues as the reaction. The villagers appreciate the efforts of Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan as the paintings have brought several positive changes to the society. The villagers now respect women more than ever. The amazing initiative have got rural women their lost dignity.
Under the awareness program, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan proposed an ordinance to prevent gender inequality in the Gram Sabha (village tilora) and got it approved. In the Gram Sabha, the rural women represent the ordinance to the Sarpanch and succeed to get it approved. According to the ordinance, when a girl child is born in a family of the village, the entire village will visit the family and congratulate the family members as well as they will plant 10 fruitful trees in the village. The girl child and the mother will be honoured in the Panchayat which will definitely reduce the difference of son & daughter in the society. The initiative of Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan will reduce the gender inequality in the society and it will also make people to change their mind.
A girl child was born in a family of the village, then the organization visited the family and had conversation with the mother to know its reaction and feelings.
Laxmi was the mother who gave birth to the girl child. When our representatives visited the family we found that all the family members along with the villagers were celebrating the birth of the girl child and all were happy. We also shared the happiness with them. After knowing the their reaction, we are sure that there is a big change has been brought to the belief of the villagers regarding the context. Laxmi told that the birth of a girl child was considered as a bane in the village, but the efforts made by Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan to make the villagers aware have brought the change and now the villagers have understood that both boy & girl are same. She thanked Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan and GlobalGiving Foundation on the behalf of her family members and the villagers.
