Rina, at just 19 years old, defied daunting odds in a remote village in eastern Nepal. As a member of the marginalized Dalit community, she faced the threat of dropping out of school due to her family's financial struggles.
Fortunately, STOP Girl Trafficking intervened during her sixth-grade year, providing her with crucial support. This not only enabled her to continue her education but also relieved the financial burden on her family.
Reflecting on her journey, Rina acknowledges: "If not for the timely educational support from SGT I wouldn't have made it this far. This assistance not only motivated me to attend school but also eased the substantial financial strain on my parents."
Through SGT, she received vital training. As a Friday teacher and alum, she found financial stability to continue her bachelor's degree. Her passion for social work led her to campaign against child marriage. Today, Rina proudly works for a non-profit in her home village combating violence against women. Her journey from the brink of dropping out to a leader for change is a testament to the transformative impact of programs like STOP Girl Trafficking.
