Safe Water Sports is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 with the interest of providing information and raising awareness to the general public on safety matters related to recreational water activities and water sports with great emphasis on safety standards and the prevention of drownings and sea-based accidents.
Οne of our latest accomplishments is that we have created a series of interactive educational videos regarding safety at sea and in water sports where children have to decide how the story continues. Basically, students decide the right side or the wrong side on the video and they have the ability to watch what happens when they choose the wrong one.
SWS plans to create also a series of interactive educational videos for the swimming pool where students watch a story movie and they decide again about the flow of the story.
Additionally, this year SWS plans to create the first swimming program in Greece for swimming pools with a main goal of making children know how to swim through a series of levels from 4-12 years of age.

Οne of our latest mission goals is that given the fact that the Organization has already created an educational program for primary school students, approved by the Ministry of Education in Greece and Cyprus, it has also created an educational program for the high-school students where they will learn the basic safety rules in water sports and at sea through more interactive and technologically based activities.
During summer time, the organization will create a series of interactive educational videos regarding safety at sea and in watewr sports where children have to decide how the story continues. Basically, they will decise the right path or the wrong path and they will have the ability to watch what happens when they choose the wrong one.
Through this way, believe that videos will intrigue children's mind in order to learn the basic safety rules at sea. These videos will be part of the educational program for high-schools and we plan to create these videos in english at some point so they go internationally.
Additionally, the first report regarding incidents in Greece from 2017-2020 is officially published in cooperation with the Ministry of Maritime, the Port police and Greek police. This is the first time that Greece has statistical information regarding drownings and sea based accidents.

The primary educational program we have created is currently being translated in French too and recently we had a virtual presentation to teachers in French schools and in France too, discussing about the activities of the program, as we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the French Embassy and the French Institute, as we do with the British Embassy too.
Additionally, in the following months the Organization will launch a statistical report in collaboration with the Ministry of Shipping and the Port Police that includes information full in details regarding drownings and accidents at sea and inland water such as lakes, rivers, swimming pools etc.Based on our results, on average 339 people lose their lives each year while doing an activity at sea or inland water.
Therefore, we do believe that education is crucial not only for young ages but also for adolescents who start enjoying water sports.

The Organization that has created an educational program approved by the Ministry of Education, due to the worldwide situation regarding the corona virus, started online education for students in order to learn about safety rules in the sea, in the swimming pool and in water sports.
