Cholera remains a serious threat to vulnerable families in South Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Displacement, overcrowded living conditions, poor sanitation, and limited access to safe drinking water leave many communities at risk of infection. Children and families already struggling with insecurity and hardship are particularly vulnerable. In this context, access to clean water is not simply a basic need; it can mean the difference between life and death.
Thanks to the generosity of our first donors, our project, Stop Cholera, Give Clean Water in DR Congo, has raised $252 toward its $85,000 goal. We are currently identifying trainers and community learners as we prepare to launch the planned activities. These will include installing water chlorination points in high-risk communities and providing practical awareness sessions on hygiene, safe water handling, and cholera prevention. Although implementation has not yet begun, this initial support gives us encouragement to continue mobilizing the resources needed to reach vulnerable families.
Our goal is to help communities access safer drinking water, reduce the risk of cholera transmission, and protect children and other vulnerable people from preventable illness. With continued support, the project can help families live in healthier conditions and strengthen local knowledge of disease prevention. Our collaboration with GlobalGiving gives us an important opportunity to connect with a wider community of international donors and build the support needed to work toward our $85,000 fundraising target. Every contribution, whatever its size, brings us closer to making this response possible.
We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing a platform through which our mission can reach caring people around the world. We are equally grateful to every donor who has already contributed to this initiative. We invite individuals, foundations, companies, and humanitarian partners to join us in this effort. Your donation can help bring safer water within reach of families who need it most. Together, we can help prevent cholera, protect vulnerable children, and give communities in South Kivu greater hope for a healthier future. Please donate and share this project to help us reach more supporters.
