I lost my father at the age of 14 while in primary Seven in Krina primary school in Katwe which I failed to complete since I had no school fees hence I had to seat home in Katwe doing domestic work.
I used to stay at home and was involved in domestic work where I used to wash plates, cook food and cleaning the house and life was hard with no hope of getting a better job or going back to school. However through PLA’s child exploitation project she was rescued from domestic work at home and enrolled at Nile vocational institution in Jinja in 2012 where she pursued a course in cosmetology. I was very happy when this opportunity came by and my parents too. I graduated successfully in 2013 and I immediately got a job in a saloon in Katwe where I have been working with a monthly pay of 100,000/=. I am more skilled in making dreads, twist, pedicure and manicure.
I also attended PLAs financial management training in 2016 where I acquired skills in savings, starting up a business and making paper bags which I made though it didn’t go well. I plan to acquire saloon equipment’s to startup my own saloon.
