Stolen Girls Stolen Futures

The campaign started in November 2022. The main purpose for the campaign was to raise funds that would allow us to complete the school year for the 2022 year and to prepare to receive the new students for the 2023 school year. At the end of January we had a graduation class of 13 girls.. Six graduated from the Hair and Beauty Vocational training class and sat for the Kenyan Vocational Training Skill exam. Seven graduated from our Dressmaking/Fashion Design class and also sat for the Kenyan Vocational Training Skill exam. Prior to graduation the girls completed an 11-month class, a 60-day internship and two-hundred practical hours at our center. Our program also houses free childcare services with certified child care workers for each student that has a child.

The Stolen Girls project also allowed us to purchase new equipment and supplies for the new set of students for the new year. We purchased new sewing machines, hair dryers for the hairdressing class, items for the daycare room and supplies for each class. We currently have a staff of 13; 3 teachers, 3 daycare workers, security and maintenance staff, kitchen staff  and one admin.

The girls that are in our program are from a very rural village in Kenya E. Africa. Most of the girls have been rescued from forced child marriages or other abusive situations. Another huge problem that our students face is in this region when a girl becomes pregnant she has to leave school. This forces the girls to leave school and their dreams. Therefore, our program is extremely important to bring hope and aspirations to each of the girls. Otherwise, they will become vegetable vendors on the street for .30 per day with no way to adequately provide for themselves or their children.

In 2022 we graduated 13 girls and all of the girls are either employed or are working for themselves in business.
