During the second three months (March – May 2019), the fundraising campaign of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BLIA) for the project "Stimulating Early Childhood Reading in Bulgaria" collected 990 dollars from 8 donors.
The project "Stimulating Early Childhood Reading in Bulgaria" was included in a national donation campaign from March 25 to March 31, 2019 on the “Bulgaria donate” platform. The donations received from this campaign are 150 dollars. As a result of the campaign, 5 children's books were donated by Tochica Publishing House.
We thank all our colleagues and friends from Bulgaria, Europe and the USA who have donated funds up to now! We also thank all our colleagues and friends who have shared the information about our campaign!
The list of selected children's books, games and videos has been consulted with colleagues from the country who have experience in working with children in the age group of 1 – 6 years and are taking initiatives to support early childhood reading in recent years.
The selection of libraries to be included in the project started. Regional libraries from 11 administrative districts sent us information about libraries in populated areas in low-income and underserved neighborhoods that have no funds to buy new books but have high attendance from children readers.Based on the received data on attendance in these libraries in 2017 and 2018, 29 libraries with more than 2000 visits per year in at least one of the two yearswere selected. Of these libraries, 10 will be selected to join the project.
