Every year more than 550 children in the Netherlands get cancer. Currently 75% of these children are healed. That must be and it can be better. Our goal is to increase this percentage to 95%. KiKa raises funds for innovative research and other activities in the field of childhood cancer, aimed at less pain during treatments, more healing and a higher quality of life in later life. In addition, KiKa focuses on providing information about childhood cancer.
Child cancer is the number 1 cause of death due to illness among children. Maybe you also know someone in your area who has had to deal with it. Unfortunately, one in four children with cancer cannot manage. With your support, we can fund scientific research into childhood cancer to increase the chance of healing from 75% to 95%.
The largest research and care center for children with cancer was opened in Europe in May 2018; the Princess Maxima Center in Utrecht. A large part of the pediatric oncology examination takes place here. This is made possible in part by support from KiKa as the largest financier of the Princess Maxima Center. Here doctors, researchers and other specialists work together so that children with cancer receive the best treatment.
We can only win the battle against childhood cancer if we do it together.
