In a world where technological development is becoming increasingly important, women's participation in STEM fields is essential to building a more innovative, secure, and inclusive future. Stories like the one from Yipsy reflect the transformative power of digital skills education. At just 20 years old, Yipsy found in technology much more than a professional career path—she discovered a purpose.

Driven by her desire to learn more and her curiosity about understanding “everything behind thes cenes” of technology, she joined MAKAIA’s Cybersecurity Bootcamp, an experience that completely broadened her perspective on STEM fields and the impact they can have on society.

Before starting the Bootcamp, Yipsy was studying Systems Engineering, an academic training primarily focused on software development. Although she knew she wanted to pursue a career within this field, she had not yet identified a specific professional path. As she immersed herself in the world of cybersecurity, she began to understand the importance of protecting information, identifying risks, and ensuring safer digital environments.

“Now I see that cybersecurity is a fundamental component for the development of applications and systems. I discovered that there are many different areas within the (cybersecurity) field, and that sparked an even greater interest in continuing to specialize in this area”, Yipsy shares.

One of her biggest challenges was facing entirely new topics and concepts. However, that challenge became an opportunity for growth. Thanks to the support from MAKAIA’s instructors and fellow participants, she strengthened not only her technical skills but also key competencies such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

Beyond the personal growth and knowledge acquired, this experience helped her build confidence and trust in her ability to keep learning and evolving. Today, she dreams of continuing to specialize in cybersecurity and building a future in a high-demand industry with significant opportunities for women.

To date, MAKAIA has certified more than 375 women through its Bootcamps, fostering gender equality in the IT industry. Currently, 47 women are enrolled and participatingin the three training tracks available within MAKAIA's Bootcamp program, including Yipsy.

Ultimately, her message to other women is clear:“Yes, we are capable. We have so much to contribute to the technology sector, and we can build a future in these fields”.

Yipsy’s story demonstratest hat more women are transforming the technology sector through talent, leadership, and fresh perspectives, helping build a more diverse and inclusive future for all.
