THANK YOU for your support of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada! Because of you, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is able to provide opportunities for youth and children. Please continue to read below to learn about two club kids who have decided that going to university will be an investment in their futures.

STEM education is more than just science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It is an interdisciplinary and applied approach, coupled with real-world, problem-based learning. At Boys and Girls Clubs, the STEAM Ahead program encourages youth to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fundamentals and includes an artistic (A) component to encourage creativity and innovation.
Please read the attached article (link below), published this past year in the Huffington Post. The article, entitled “3 Reasons For Canadian Kids To Embrace STEM,” outlines the importance of STEM learning, the opportunities that are available for girls and women, and the many employment prospects that can arise from a science-based education.
In our last report, we let you know that we were in communication with educational consultants to update and add to the associated staff manuals. This helped us assure that Club staff are well prepared to train, teach, and support all participants. Over the next few months and into the fall, we are excited to announce that twelve Boys and Girls Clubs from across the country will facilitate our STEAM Ahead program. Stay tuned for updates in our next GlobalGiving report!
