Dear Donors, it's hard to believe almost half the year has gone!
We diligently continue to fulfill our mission. Our goal is to follow through with our plans for 2024.
In early February we launched the first art competition for Secondary School students. May 15 is the dealine. Art teachers will select 5 paintings from each school for the final judging.
All selected artwork and winners of the competition will be on display at the Youlou Art Centre from September through the end of the year.
For several months we were without an art teacher for the adult art classes, but fortunately we were able to resume the Adult Art Classes in April. It is tricky finding an art teacher. We are lucky to have found one. The life drawing classes and children's art classes continue on Saturdays.
We are in the midst of preparing for the annual " Growing Young SVG Artists" The 2024 programme will continue to focus on Climate Change. We have planned 2 main activities. The planting of tiny forests in school yards using the Miyawaki method and creating and painting a mural on a market building in the main town, Kingstown. The mural will focus on depicting a utopian Caribbean landscape with concerns about climate change and hope for healing.
Donors we hope the mural will have a big impact on the public.
In my next report there will be news about the activities during the 2024 " Growing Young SVG Artists" programme.
In the meantime we rely on your support, to help us to continue and grow the project.
