The Star Program is a 10 year long assistance program that provides formal and informal education for focus groups of about 15 middle-school Ethiopian Jews in Israel, thus allowing them to excel.
Despite extensive public and private efforts to assist the Ethiopian community, they remain one of the weaker segments in Israel in terms of their socio-economic standing. We make a difference by assisting select numbers of youngsters of Ethiopian descent with the long term intent of promoting success stories that will become inspirational role models for this unique community. Excellence is the most effective path for allowing gifted individuals to overcome a situation of poverty and dependency
Tutoring sessions (math, English, language skills), nutritional supplementary program, one on one mentoring sessions, water based sports activities to develop social skills, workshops/field trips designed to provide life skills and a science workshop
We believe this is the only way to create true long term social change amongst individuals that will become role models for their immediate surroundings, thus increasing the chances of other Ethiopian Jews to escape the cycle of poverty.
