At F SSIBU MISSION FOUNDATION–UGANDA, we believe that no young person should face an HIV diagnosis alone. For many youth, learning that they are HIV positive brings overwhelming fear, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future. The fear of stigma, discrimination, rejection, and isolation often affects their mental health, causing some to lose hope, discontinue treatment, or even consider suicide.
Our counseling and psychosocial support program provides a safe, confidential, and compassionate space where young people can openly share their experiences and receive professional guidance. Through one-on-one counseling, peer support groups, and life-skills sessions, we help youth understand that being HIV positive does not define their future. With proper treatment, emotional support, and encouragement, they can continue their education, pursue meaningful careers, build healthy relationships, and live long, productive lives.
Counseling has transformed the lives of many young people in the communities we serve. Those who once struggled with fear and hopelessness have regained confidence, accepted their diagnosis, and developed a positive outlook on life. Many have become advocates for treatment adherence, encouraging their peers to remain strong and committed to their health.
Our work also extends to families and communities by promoting HIV awareness and reducing stigma. We empower caregivers with knowledge and skills to support young people with love, acceptance, and understanding, creating environments where youth can thrive without fear of discrimination.
With continued support from donors and partners, F SSIBU MISSION FOUNDATION–UGANDA will expand access to counseling and mental health services for more youth living with HIV. Together, we can prevent unnecessary loss of life, restore hope, strengthen resilience, and ensure that every young person has the opportunity to live with dignity, confidence, and a brighter future.
