Thousands of families in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor have been affected by severe flooding caused by an unprecedented rise in the Euphrates River in May and June 2026. Homes, farmland, water systems, and critical infrastructure have been damaged, leaving vulnerable communities without essential services. This project will provide emergency relief while helping families restore their livelihoods and recover with dignity.
Families in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor in Syria rely heavily on agriculture and river-related activities for their income and food security. Recent floods destroyed crops, damaged farmland, disrupted water and electricity networks, and forced many households from their homes. Without urgent assistance, affected communities face growing poverty, food insecurity, health risks, and displacement.
This project will deliver emergency food, safe drinking water, bread, hygiene supplies, shelter assistance, mobile health services, and direct cash support to affected families. It will also help farmers recover through the provision of seedlings, agricultural tools, and organic fertilizers, alongside training on climate-resilient farming, disaster preparedness, and water resource management.
The project will improve food security and household income for vulnerable families, helping them meet their basic needs and recover from the crisis. It will strengthen community resilience through practical skills, agricultural recovery, and disaster preparedness. Women and young people will actively participate in recovery efforts, promoting social cohesion, reducing displacement risks, and supporting long-term stability.
