This project will create a free healing space for 30 adults in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, many still recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria. In a community facing poverty, rising costs, and limited mental health care, the St. Thomas Recovery Cafe offers peer-led support circles, warm meals, bush tea, and connection. Your gift brings care, dignity, and recovery to those rebuilding their lives.
The U.S. Virgin Islands is facing a growing mental health crisis. With limited access to long-term care and few reentry services, too many residents are left to navigate trauma, depression, and addiction alone. The emotional scars from Hurricanes Irma and Maria are still fresh, especially for families already living in poverty or unstable housing. This is a quiet emergency. Without support, people fall through the cracks-into isolation, hopelessness, and risk. We must act now.
This project creates consistent access to healing circles, peer support, and community care for at least 30 adults each year. It provides the structure, relationships, and resources people need to navigate trauma, reentry, and recovery. As individuals heal, they restore stability within their families and strengthen the wider community.
This project has the power to transform lives and communities. When people have a safe place to heal, they regain purpose, rebuild relationships, and rise as leaders. Their healing ripples outward-into families, neighborhoods, and future generations. The Recovery Cafe can spark a new, community-led approach to mental health in the U.S. Virgin Islands, rooted in resilience, dignity, and hope.
