After hurricanes Irma & Maria, our team developed a rebuild program for St. John. The program facilitates construction solutions, focusing maximum impact on the under-served in our community. This includes the senior roofing initiative, adding required structural reinforcements, AND making homes habitable. We are already dedicated to reintroducing thirty displaced seniors safely back into their homes before the impending hurricane season. Our setback now is funding for materials & skilled labor.
Many homes were destroyed due to hurricanes Irma & Maria, and not all residents have the ability (physically or financially) to rebuild. Elderly citizens are in need of safe abodes. Other homes are in need of hurricane preparation (i.e. hurricane straps & shutters). We aim to make all of that happen, hopefully with your help.
This project will put roofs on the homes of the elderly AND finish out their homes to a habitable state. This project will also help strengthen other structures in preparation for next hurricane season.
Structures being built sturdy and strong and therefore withstanding any future storms. DORIAN UPDATE: With little warning Hurricane Dorian practically formed on top of St. John and St. Thomas. There are still many seniors and vulnerable individuals living in substandard conditions that are receiving little to no territorial or federal assistance. At the time of writing this our rebuild program has currently restored 23 families to their homes - we need your support!
