Greetings from WGNRR!
The past few months have been very busy months for the WGNRR team! Our regional offices have been busy implementing workshops and advocacy project activities and at the global level the team was focusing efforts on advocating for SRHR for ALL, specially rural women and girls at CSW62 in NY! In March, a WGNRR staff member proudly read aloud our oral statement to the Commission on the Status of Women and we were delighted to be mobilizing and networking within this important global space.
In terms of campaigning, On March 8th, WGNRR mobilized together with organisations and individuals around the world in celebrating International Women's Day. WGNRR celebrated this important day by launching another youth SRHR blog in our series of blogs entitled "Looking back, looking forward?" where we featured Joshi Leban, a Nicaraguan LGBT activist living in El Salvador. WGNRR Africa staff attended the 2nd regional ACHPR Decriminalization of Abortion Campaign in April. The workshop reviewed what stakeholders have been able to achieve since the launch of the campaign as well as developing a campaign strategy for the future.
More recently, we commemorated May 17, International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia by launching another youth blog by a youth activist and mobilizing our members and allies through social media.
There is so much great campaigning work being done to counteract the reproductive injustices in our communities but a great deal still lies ahead. Please continue to support the work that we do so we can continue to campaign for the upholding of sexual and reproductive health rights for all.
We’re counting on you!
