Dear Friends and Family,
It has been another long rainy season here in Myanmar! With political situation getting worse day by day and the economic situation closely following suit, the heavy and long months of rain do take their toll on everyone.
Once again due to these situations, we have taken a short break in our programs to allow time for rest, reflection and planning for the upcoming dry season. As you may know us, rest really doesn’t mean a full stop, just easing up on our most of our work.
We have continued to make improvements in the basic infrastructure here in town at the base of Sprouting Seeds. We have planted small gardens and have been growing some basic veggies at the project.
As we slowly crawl our way into October, the rains will slow down and make way for sunny days come the first of November. With big holidays in the country in October and November, our internship program will once again commence the first week of October, taking in another batch of teachers to start their 3-4 month teacher training internship.
We are excited with the new interns to arrive after a quiet 2 months and looking forward to their new energy and once again having the café operating as normal as can be during these tumultuous times.
Part of their time will also be heading out to Whispering Earth, our training centre in the village to help with mud building once the rains stop.
We are happy to share our latest news with all of you and so looking forward the rains to stop and our outside work to begin once again! More pics to come in the next updates from interns who will be arriving shortly.
With warmest thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement, especially during these extremely challenging times.
