Sports to Support is a community-based project launched with sports influencer Diren Kartal to support children affected by the earthquakes in Turkey. Through structured sports activities, we help youth recover emotionally, build resilience, and reconnect with peers. Over 25,000 children have already benefited from our psychosocial sessions, school renovations, and aid distributions. We aim to continue reaching more children in need of healing, hope, and connection through sport.
The February 6, 2023 earthquakes caused severe trauma and displacement among thousands of children and youth. Many lost homes, schools, and safe spaces vital for healthy development. Without supportive environments, young people face risks of social isolation, emotional distress, and harmful coping. Lack of structured activities and psychosocial support deepens vulnerability, threatening their long-term mental and social well-being.
Sports to Support provides sports equipment and organizes structured sports activities and workshops to create safe and positive environments for youth affected by the earthquake. These activities help children reconnect with their peers, regain confidence, and develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and emotional resilience. The program collaborates closely with psychologists and experienced coaches to ensure holistic support for both physical and mental well-being.
Sports to Support aims to create sustainable local sports programs that foster mental health and social inclusion in earthquake-affected communities. By promoting ongoing participation in sports, the project helps break the cycle of trauma, builds resilience, and strengthens community ties. These programs empower youth to develop life skills and healthier coping mechanisms, contributing to long-term emotional recovery and social cohesion.
