Hockey Training sessions have been held whenever possible according and in respect of gubernamental restrictions due to COVID-19. An average of 2 hours of training per week were realised and over 15 new participants enrolled in the program. Thanks to a partnership with circolo canottieri Lazio, some of the sessions are being held there, a very prestigious sport place in Rome. Several videos and pictures were made available at our Facebook page. Here are some of the videos made. The program is being presented for additional funding to a national tender focussing on social inclusion. The program will be expanded to other disciplines, namely taqball eland American football
Despite the covid19 related challenges and restrictions imposed by the Italian government to limit the spread of the virus, Lazio Hockey managed to make remarkable progress in project activities.
1. As soon as it became possibile to start training our specials we put together a team and bought the necessary equipment to start, also thanks to a small regional grant 2. We developed a partnership with circolo canottieri Lazio, located in another area of the city to expand our geographical reach 3. We carried out an entirely virtual press release on 28/10/2020, link attached 4. We recorded a professional video 5. We added a component which will be possible to complete despite covid. An entirely virtual training addressed to coaches on how to cope with disabilities. A professor from Bocconi university decided to support us and we'll be able to disseminate the product to the whole Lazio multisport club thus improving scaling up potential and impact.
Progress in the implementation of project activities, as well as in the achievement of its financial goal on GlobalGiving, has been scarce due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the restrictions imposed by the Italian government since March 3 to date. Despite some activities have recently restarted in sports clubs, trainings are only held on an individual basis andaand team sport practice ostis still not allowed. more in particular the project target group, i.e. youth with disabilities, have not yet been reintegrated fully indin the clubs activities to their limited ability to respect social distancing measures and their (in some cases) higher degree of physical vulnerability.
The funds raised have been fundamental to get some of the equipment foreseen including preventive kits.
We look forward to starting implementation at a full scale very soon.
