Refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo are among the most forgotten ones in the world, at all levels (International, Regional, National and Local Levels ) they are totally ignored. One among ways to address their problems is to provoke discussions on refugees issues at all levels and support refugees in DRC to participate in event about refugees at all levels in order to advocate for their issues and mark their visibility.
Refugees in DRC are facing the worst situation because they are totally abandoned over the years, generally they are the cause of the current tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and many have been massacred during Rwanda Military interventions in DRC. They do not have refugee documents, they do not access humanitarian relief aid, they lack physical protection, among others, we observe the lack of opportunities for interactions on refugees issues in DRC.
This project will create spaces for discussions. For the first time refugees in North Kivu Province and in other Provinces of DRC will be Represented in various discussions with key decision makers and will come together in order to agree on their key priorities which should interventions focus on, and for the first time world we hear the voices of refugees in DRC, stakeholders from Government, Humanitarian organizations and other actors will have access to accurate information from refugees.
In long term is mostly to ensure that refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo are not left behind and their issues are included as part of the national and global priorities. In most cases solutions will be considered in order to alleviate the situation of refugees and refugees will be fully protected in the Democratic Republic of Congo, This will contribute to peace in the Great Lakes Region as once protected Rwanda will no longer perceive them as threats. But also will inspire others.
