Since our last report, the primary class has grown by two, and now stands at 13 students. This is great news to share but resources are stretched. It is summer vacation at EEESMA with students and teachers taking a break however fundraising continues in full force to ensure the school opens for a new school term.
You could play a big role in a child's development by offering to sponsor his/her education at EEESMA School for the Deaf. Remember, there is no government funding.
For as little as US$100/month consider being that "special someone" in a youngster's education. Your help is guaranteed to change a life.
For those who have given in the past, thank you very much.
As promised, here is anther student's story.
Monserrat, affectionately known as Montse, is a vibrant 13-year-old born on May 20, 2011, residing in the close-knit community of "La Erre" in Dolores Hidalgo. Her daily journey to and from school is a shared adventure with her peers in the EEESMA transportation van, creating lasting bonds and shared laughter.
As the elder of two sisters, Montse, and her 8-year-old sister, both navigate the world of being deaf. While Montse fully embraces the deaf community and acquiring Mexican Sign Language at EEESMA, her younger sister, took a little longer to warm up to making a change of schools. We are pleased to let you know though, that recently Montse's little sister has joined EEESMA School for the Deaf and the two now travel together to school everyday. t
In her active pursuits, Montse's athletic spirit shines through her involvement in karate and volleyball at school. In her home community, she finds joy in traditional Mexican dance, connecting with her cultural roots.
Montse's palate reflects her diverse tastes, with a love for spaghetti, pozole, and jamaica water. Beyond her culinary interests, she finds fascination in Korean culture, often indulging in the musical delights of the BTS group on TV. In quieter moments, Montse channels her creativity through drawing, showcasing her artistic flair.
Structured and eager to learn, Montse brings dedication to her school activities, reflecting a positive shift from initial shyness to active participation in class and various activities. Her prior attendance at regular public school among hearing children has posed challenges, leading to language deprivation throughout her life. The introduction of sign language is poised to be transformative for Montse, offering her a means of communication to express herself and connect with others.
Joining the Deaf community at EEESMA is a significant turning point in Montse's life. With dedicated deaf education and Mexican Sign Language instruction, she is now immersed in an environment that not only understands her unique experiences but also fosters growth, connection, and a brighter future. The opportunity to communicate with peers who share similar challenges is a profound step toward empowerment and inclusivity for Montse.
We hope you will help by supporting Montse through her education journey by making a donation today. Gracias!
