The project "PREPARANDO O FUTURO" prepares 160 students from public schools of Brasilandia, a territory of high vulnerability in Sao Paulo, to enter technical schools which can change their futures through education. The project provides classes on Saturdays, online contents, cultural tours, visits to the technical schools and counseling sessions. The approval rate in 2023 was 60% and 72% in 2024. After this project, many continue in higher education and get better job opportunities.
In 2022, Brazil was ranked 65th out 81 in the PISA math ranking. The results tend to be worse in high vulnerability territories such as Brasilandia (Indice Paulista de Vulnerabilidade Social, 2010) in Sao Paulo. Brasilandia is the second district with the most proportion of "favelas" and the district with the lowest average salary (Mapa da Desigualdade, 2022). The education index IDEB in Brasilandia for primary school is only 5,0 on a scale from 1 to 10.
The project "PREPARANDO O FUTURO '' provides education opportunities for teenagers living in a high vulnerability territory. There are classes every Saturday, online contents, cultural tours, visits to the technical schools, counseling sessions and other activities. The goal is to prepare the teenagers to access technical schools and to develop critical thinking which will provide them better learning opportunities and to extend the impact through their families and communities.
It is very common for those who studied in the project, most of whom have already graduated, to return to volunteer and continue to be part of the transformation network, proving that it is possible to achieve great goals and impact their communities. According to Daniel Pereira, student: "The project is a fuel of hope, because I heard about ETECs (technical schools), but I didn't know how to prepare and with the project, I saw a door of wisdom for me to enter this wonderful future"
