Our International Focus

By Robert L Cowan | Treasurer and Director

This quarter, COANIQUEM continues to provide comprehensive, nocost rehabilitation to children with burn injuries across Latin America. Our international program remains active, with children from seven countries receiving multidisciplinary care both in person and through telehealth, as described in our program overview (“these are complex cases… requiring multidisciplinary care unavailable locally”).

Looking ahead, we are preparing to treat 50 international children this year, expanding beyond the 34 supported last year. This growth reflects our commitment to ensuring that no child is left without longterm rehabilitation.

Construction is also advancing on our new rehabilitation center in Puente Alto, which will strengthen our national network and increase access for families in underserved communities.

Finally, we are actively raising funds for a new medical laser, a critical tool for treating hypertrophic scarring. Last year alone, COANIQUEM performed 246 laser sessions, underscoring the importance of expanding this capacity.

Thank you for standing with us. Your support ensures that every child we serve receives the longterm, lifechanging care they deserve.
