Millions of children in Nigeria are denied the chance to learn as poverty, displacement, insecurity and family hardship keep them out of school. In 2024, UNICEF reported that 10.2 million primary-school-age children and 8.1 million junior-secondary-age children were out of school. This project will sponsor 520 out-of-school children from Primary 1-6, JSS 1-3 and SS 1-3. It will cover school fees, uniforms, books, bags and learning materials to help them return to school.
For many Nigerian families struggling to meet daily needs, sending a child to school comes with costs they simply cannot afford. School fees, uniforms, books, bags and learning materials can keep children at home or force them to drop out. Insecurity and displacement have also interrupted education in many communities, leaving children without a stable place to learn. UNICEF reported in 2025 that 47.4% of Nigerian children live below the national poverty line, with rural child facing high rates.
This project will sponsor 520 out-of-school children from low-income and crisis-affected families and help them return to school. Each child will receive support based on their school needs, including school fees, uniforms, books, bags, stationery and learning materials. We will work with families and selected schools to enroll the children from Primary 1-6, JSS 1-3 and SS 1-3, giving each child the chance to complete a full school year without financial barriers.
Returning 520 children to school will give them a stronger chance to continue their education while reducing their exposure to harmful influences. Regular schooling will improve literacy, numeracy, confidence and social development while reducing school dropout. As these children progress through school, they will gain the knowledge and skills needed for further education and employment, giving them a better chance to support themselves and their families in the future.
