Every child deserves a chance to learn. However, in India, there are still many uncountable children out there who are uneducated because they are unable to afford this basic necessity of a school kit which many of us take for granted.
Since 2007, the school kit drive team has been trying to reach out to children in both the cities and the rural areas. Each year, the YFS teams bring together individuals in colleges, corporates and apartment complexes and assemble the school kits.
Children who see the unskilled labour done by their families as an easy source of income, do not understand the positive outcomes of going to school. This initiative attempts to remove the haze around the incentives of receiving an education.
In 2015, YFS has reached out to about 40,000 children, majority in rural areas, through the School Kit Drive, including students in earthquake-affected Nepal, Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
