The academic year in Zambia finished in December and concluded a strong year for Kucetekela Foundation (KF) and our students. We would like to use this opportunity to highlight the latest achievements of our students and alumni.
In 2015, KF supported 35 students in secondary school as well as 31 alumni who are now studying or working in Zambia and other countries across the globe! In December, five KF students graduated from secondary school, a 100% graduation rate for this class, and boosted our alumni ranks now to 36. This was a particularly accomplished class of graduates and earned the highest collective scores on the Grade 12 national exam of any KF class in our program’s history. We believe they will be especially strong candidates for many tertiary education opportunities and wish them great success!
Our KF students continue to uphold a high standard of excellence and earn recognition for their academic performance and leadership ability. Here are some of the highlights from Term 3:
As one class completed secondary studies, a new group of scholars were selected. We are excited to welcome 10 new scholars to the KF family. These new students were selected after another rigorous application and recruitment process. We look forward to watching them grow and see all they achieve over the years to come! These new students started Grade 8 in January and with this addition, KF now sponsors 40 students in 2016!
In October, a group of volunteers, led by Ken C., bravely took on a terrible storm and completed our fourth annual Bike for KF fundraiser. Ken and his team of KF supporters rode 60 miles and raised approximately $10,000! Congratulations and thank you to Ken and his team. The KF students made a video to thank all who participated and donated to this effort. You can check out the video at: https://youtu.be/5fDGhmV2ueM
