Dear Donor,
Over the past quarter, communities across Rivers State have faced severe environmental challenges driven by climate change. Increased flooding, improper waste disposal, and unpredictable weather patterns have directly impacted thousands of local families—causing widespread sickness, localized flooding, and sudden loss of economic livelihoods for petty market traders.
In direct response, the Touchlives Albert Foundation (TAF) launched an intensive environmental sanitation and sensitization campaign. Our dedicated volunteers conducted grassroots awareness drives in the Eneka community, educating residents and market women on practical ways to mitigate climate hazards. To turn awareness into action, we freely distributed waste bins to petty traders in local markets to combat open dumping and drainage blockage, which are the primary causes of flash flooding.
Moving forward, we aim to expand our Climate Awareness tracking into neighboring marginalized communities. We are deeply grateful to our global donors on GlobalGiving for making this vital intervention possible, protecting vulnerable families from the compounding health and economic crises brought on by environmental degradation.
Warm regards
