Dear Donor, we keep working!
The quality of life of low-income senior citizens in our country, unfortunately is very low, situations such as abandonment, poverty and exclusion, in addition to the lack of foresight of their future, converts the elderly into a very vulnerable population, through this project, will be attended to up to 120 senior citizens with a personalized and comprehensive quality care to improve their living conditions, especially health of older adults who do not have social security and who for chronic degenerative diseases and mobility problems require physiotherapy and specialized care services.
The Foundation launched its program for the elderly, since its establishment in 1935, it has three residences for senior citizens in the Federal District, although the Residences were built at the end of the 1980´s. During this time the Foundation has improved its services to provide comprehensive services in a family environment to improve the well-being of older adults. The objective of the Foundation also involves replicating lessons learned with other organizations and transferring knowledge to other homes for the elderly, as has happened during the Foundation's history. It has been recognized by other institutions as a model to offer care services for older adults - through benchmarking studies - that have given recognition to the Foundation among the community that seeks quality services and that are accessible. In this way the Foundation has positioned itself well not only among those it serves directly but also among families and other organizations that recommend the services of the Foundation.
Thanks to the team work oriented and based on our Intervention Model, the Foundation reduces the conditions of physical, mental, emotional and social vulnerability of the elderly residents, managing to improve their quality of life and that of their families through their residential service and with the execution of its programs of nutrition, medical and nursing care, occupational therapy, physical therapy and rehabilitation, emotional health and social integration. All this under a gerontological approach that allows systematic interventions, based on the contributions of the different scientific disciplines that provide knowledge to ensure the overall well-being of the elderly residents.
The quality of life is a permanent aspiration that supports the institutional care in the FBH Residences, without particularizing in each case or reason for which an older adult is institutionalized; The main objective of those who work there, is that elderly people, when served through the seven intervention programs or components can consider and feel that they live in favorable living conditions, equaling and if possible overcoming the previous conditions in the that they lived to influence that their last years are more and better lived.
