Through this project, sponsors will support a senior person, especially who has no social insurance, is in abandonment, and lives in poverty or exclusion. Through an integral, quality and personalized care provided by the Teodoro Gildred Residence -located in the slum areas of Azcapotzalco in Mexico-, disadvantaged elderly people receive attention to improve their life conditions.
The Teodoro Gildred Residence located in Mexico City, operates since 1989, it has an installed capacity to provide care to 126 senior citizens, at the present time the residence provides care to 96 persons, from whom 63% are totally dependent in their mobility and requires special care, also 46% lack of social insurance. Furthermore 17% of residents in abandonment have not enough resources for their daily subsistence, this way it is necessary to provide scholarships for them.
The annual total cost of a resident in this situation is $10,000 US, including the human and material resources to provide integral services -housing, 3 meals a day, medical care, physiotherapy, inclusion and recreational activities, psychological attention, among other daily residential services. Currently the Foundation covers the daily expenses up to 3 senior citizens, this way through this project we would like to add sponsors to improve the life conditions of disadvantaged elderly people.
Through specialized, personalized and quality care, the foundation provides elderly people with a positive environment that guarantees their development, harmony and general welfare. Into the elderly house, people participate in recreational activities (Bingo, handicrafts, Yoga, singing, dancing, reading circle, board games, cinema club, social events), as well as family activities to promote their social inclusion, and with that their quality of life.
