Drug Abuse Affect Young People in School/Community

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the Sponsor Anti-Drug Films for Nigerian Youth project. We are grateful for your generosity and for your concern about the growing impact of drug abuse on young people across Nigeria.

Many communities are witnessing an increase in drug use among adolescents and young adults. Teachers, parents, and community leaders continue to report concerns about substance abuse, poor academic performance, violence, and risky behavior linked to drug use. In many low-income communities, young people receive inaccurate information from peers or social media, while opportunities for meaningful discussions about drug abuse remain limited.

Although donations have been received for this project, the amount available is not yet enough to begin production of the film and related awareness activities. Additional support is needed before filming, editing, distribution, and community screenings can commence.

The proposed film, Not Too Young to Quit, is intended to speak directly to young people using relatable stories, familiar environments, and experiences they can easily understand. The goal is to encourage informed choices, spark conversations about substance abuse, and connect vulnerable youth with available support services.

We believe that stories can be powerful tools for education. By presenting real-life situations and consequences in a format that young people can relate to, the film aims to encourage reflection and discussion among students, families, and communities.

We appreciate the support received so far and remain committed to bringing this project to life. As additional funding becomes available, we will provide updates on production progress and share information about the communities and schools that will benefit from the screenings.

Thank you for helping us address a challenge that affects the future of many young people.

Warm regards,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
