Hello everyone!
Visits to the school are always special and this one was no different!
Several volunteers visited the school and helped the students create different age-appropriate crafts. The Nursery and Primary students made an octopus-inspired abacus. Each student was given a paper plate, strings and beads. The Nursery students worked in teams to complete the craft, while the Primary students worked individually. This activity challenged students to use various skills such as fine motor, counting and teamwork. The Secondary students were given a STEM challenge activity. They were asked to build the tallest standing structure possible by using only 3 pieces of paper and some masking tape. Even some of the teachers created their own structure. All the students really enjoyed these crafts and it was so delightful to see their creativity at work.
While the students were busy crafting, some board members met with the administrators of the Shining Light School to check on the maintence, the on-going agriculture project and to discuss any items needed for the school.
We ended the visit by viewing each classroom's completed craft and then handed out treats to the students. It was an enjoyable day and we at IBSF would like to thank all our sponsors for your continued support to help these students receive an education.
