PROJECT REPORT UPDATE

1. Background of the Organisation

Twahirah Islamic Charity Organisation (TICO) is a registered non-governmental organisation in Uganda (Reg. No. INDR157054848NB). The organisation envisions a self-reliant and sustainable community where vulnerable people thrive through innovative capacity building, humanitarian assistance, and psychosocial support.

TICO implements programs in:

  • Education sponsorship

  • Skills development

  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene

  • Relief and humanitarian support

  • Faith-based initiatives

Through these interventions, TICO supports orphans, vulnerable children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, empowering them to build resilient and sustainable livelihoods.

2. Project Overview

The Education Sponsorship Program aims to provide long-term access to quality education for orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. The program supports children from primary school through to their first degree by covering essential educational and welfare needs.

Each child supported under this program receives:

  • School fees

  • Scholastic materials

  • School uniforms

  • Psychosocial support

  • Family food assistance during school holidays

The average cost of supporting one child is USD 30 per month, ensuring holistic care and continuous learning.

3. Current Funding Status

The project has a fundraising target of USD 105,000 to support vulnerable children through quality education and related welfare services.

To date, only USD 1 has been raised, leaving a funding gap of USD 104,999. While this marks the beginning of the campaign, it also demonstrates the urgent need for greater visibility, donor engagement, and partnerships to reach children who are still waiting for support.

Every contribution, regardless of its size, brings the project one step closer to transforming the lives of vulnerable children across Uganda.

4. Ongoing Need and Challenge

Uganda continues to face a significant education crisis among vulnerable populations:

  • Over 2 million children are orphans, many lacking access to education.

  • Children from low-income families are unable to afford school fees and basic scholastic materials.

  • Many drop out of school due to poverty, increasing their vulnerability to exploitation and long-term poverty.

Without immediate intervention, these children risk being permanently excluded from education and future opportunities.

5. Planned Implementation

Despite the current funding gap, TICO has established systems and is fully prepared to implement the project once sufficient funds become available.

Key activities will include:

  • Identification and enrollment of the most vulnerable children through a transparent selection process.

  • Payment of school fees directly to partner schools.

  • Distribution of scholastic materials and school uniforms.

  • Regular monitoring visits and mentorship support.

  • Continuous evaluation to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and measurable impact.

6. Expected Impact

Once funded, the project will:

  • Enable vulnerable children to access uninterrupted education.

  • Improve school attendance and academic performance.

  • Reduce dropout rates in marginalized communities.

  • Strengthen the psychosocial wellbeing of children.

  • Contribute to long-term poverty reduction.

The impact will extend beyond individual beneficiaries to families, schools, and entire communities.

7. Call for Support

The project has made its first step with USD 1 already received, but significant support is still needed to achieve the USD 105,000 fundraising goal.

We warmly invite individuals, organizations, and partners to:

  • Be among the early supporters helping this initiative grow.

  • Sponsor a child with just USD 30 per month.

  • Share this project within your personal and professional networks.

  • Partner with TICO to expand access to quality education for vulnerable children.

Together, we can ensure that no child is denied an education because of poverty.

8. Closing Message

This project represents hope for children who have been left behind by circumstances beyond their control.

Although only USD 1 has been raised so far, every successful campaign begins with a single contribution. With your support, we can build on this first donation, reach our USD 105,000 goal, and give vulnerable children the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
