Healthcare for young people

The Nasio Trust’s 25th anniversary in 2026 is benefiting young people in western Kenya mainly by raising funds to expand and protect programmes that support their education, health and future opportunities.

  • Education: The anniversary appeal aims to support vulnerable young people through access to education, healthcare and welfare support. Nasio says the programme provides opportunities to learn, play and thrive.

  • Healthcare: Part of the anniversary fundraising is supporting Nasio’s medical services, helping keep inpatient and maternity care free for the communities it serves.

  • Sexual and reproductive health: Nasio's youth-led Peer Education Programme has reached more than 10,000 young people, providing information about HIV, STIs, contraception and teenage pregnancy. In partner schools, the programme reports a 60% reduction in teenage pregnancies since 2021.

  • Skills and livelihoods: Young people are also gaining practical skills through initiatives such as the Young Farmers Clubs, which teach sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship and food production. The programme now works with 20 schools and more than 150 young people.

  • Long-term opportunities: The Trust's 25-year history includes supporting disadvantaged students through secondary and university education, with former beneficiaries going on to professional careers. For example, Rajab, supported by Nasio from age seven, qualified as a clinician and later worked at its medical centre.

In short: the anniversary isn't just celebrating what Nasio has achieved over 25 years - it is being used as a fundraising opportunity to give vulnerable young people in Kenya better access to education, healthcare, life skills and pathways out of poverty. (thenasiotrust.org)
