Peter is 18 years old. He is the first child in a family of 4 and was raised by a single mother who had financial challenges in providing the basic needs for each of her children.
Peter would attend classes on an empty stomach and without the necessary school requirements, which were very hard for him to concentrate in school. Fortunately, when he was in grade 6, the African Impact Foundation started sponsoring him at school. "The foundation provided me with the support I needed to be able to concentrate on my studies and get good grades in school. My performance improved tremendously over time," he says.
Peter wrote grade 12 exams last year and attained excellent results. He is currently undergoing work experience as a mentor under the youth program project, which he believes is a privilege to be part of this experience, "My work experience involves teaching learners on a variety of topics such as Gender Equality, leadership, self-esteem and so many more. I look forward to learning more from this experience and am very thankful to the foundation for the opportunity".
Through sponsorship, Peter has been able to work extremely hard without worrying about school fees or school requirements. Having work experience with the foundation has helped him become even more exposed to different places and people. As he continues his journey, Charles wants to achieve his dream of becoming a medical doctor and contributing to a better health system in Zambia.
