Although most children in Sri Lanka enroll in primary school, only 73% continue to upper secondary education, and many face poverty, malnutrition, and limited access to learning resources. Through the CARE (Children's Access to Rights and Education) Programme, Save a Life provides education support, nutritious meals, safe learning environments, and family assistance to help vulnerable children stay in school, succeed, and build brighter futures.
Despite Sri Lanka's high school enrolment, many children still face barriers to learning. Poverty, malnutrition, family hardship, and limited access to school supplies force vulnerable children to miss classes or leave school early. Children from low-income families are most affected, reducing their opportunities to complete their education, develop essential skills, and escape the cycle of poverty.
Through the CARE (Children's Access to Rights and Education) Programme, Save a Life partners with schools to provide education sponsorship, nutritious meals, learning materials, safer classrooms, and family livelihood support. By addressing both children's educational needs and the challenges faced by their families, the programme helps children stay in school, improve learning outcomes, and thrive.
CARE Programme will enable thousands of vulnerable children across Sri Lanka to complete their education in safe, supportive learning environments. By improving school attendance, nutrition, learning outcomes, and family livelihoods, the programme will reduce school dropout and strengthen children's wellbeing. Over time, CARE will help break the cycle of poverty, empower families, and build stronger, more resilient communities for future generations.
