40% of Nigerian children aged 6-11 do not attend any primary school with the Northern region recording the lowest school attendance rate in the country, particularly for girls. Nigeria still has 10.5 million out-of-school children - the world's highest number. 60% of those children are in Northern Nigeria. In Northern Nigeria, conflict has deprived many children of access to education. The Sponsor A Child Intervention is a pilot project to see these kids back to school
Communities in Jos, Plateau State in North Central Nigeria are affected by violent conflict in the past years. There is a large population of orphans from ages 7- 10 years out of school. There are several communities with over 3,000 children out of school. Despite the best o interventions there is an urgent need to get sponsorship for some of these kids to return to school and complete their or risk a potential new cycle of conflicts. Our pilot project is to see 500 children as beneficiaries
By providing basic education for the children to access health and nutrition and child rights consequently allowing for a drastic reduction for a potential return to violence in the communities.
The project will provide education for 500 children through the primary school cycle. Allowing them to learn and acquire basic skills and crafts that will help them continue a life that has a strong foundation
