Gharo is a small town in Thatta District, Sindh, where many families live far from specialised healthcare. Hepatitis C often goes unnoticed for years because it can cause few symptoms early on, and for many people in rural communities, the cost of testing and treatment puts care out of reach. SHINE Humanity's Hepatitis Program in Gharo was set up to close that gap, bringing diagnosis, free treatment, counselling and follow-up care to people who would otherwise go without.
Mujeeb is a 36-year-old from Gharo, and like many working men in his community, his days revolve around providing for his household. In June 2026, he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C through SHINE Humanity's Hepatitis Program. A diagnosis like this can be overwhelming, especially for someone who cannot afford to lose time or income, but Mujeeb didn’t have to face it alone. Through the support provided to him from SHINE Humanity, he received a full three-month course of treatment at no cost, along with counselling to help him understand his condition and medical guidance at every stage. The SHINE team stayed with him throughout, checking in through regular follow-ups and encouraging him to stay on course until his treatment was complete.
Today, Mujeeb reports that his overall health and day-to-day well-being have improved. “I am thankful to the SHINE team for providing free treatment and continuous support,” he says. “Their guidance helped me complete my treatment with confidence.”
Mujeeb’s story shows what becomes possible when early diagnosis is paired with free treatment and steady support. Completing treatment isn’t only about access to medicine; it’s about having someone walk alongside you until the end. That is the care that SHINE Humanity works to bring to every patient it reaches.
