Thanks to its core mission and long-term presence in Nepal, Splash is in the unique position to focus on true "recovery": filling a critical emergency gap (clean water today) while ensuring the sustainability of post-earthquake investments (clean water for years to come). Splash-Nepal is bridging the gap between short term aid and long term solutions.
Because of your generosity, the Splash-Nepal team was able to respond immediately to the water crisis caused by the earthquake. Your donation provided the resources needed to help us focus our relief efforts on three areas: 1.) observational assessments of all 171 Splash sites; 2.) immediate repair where possible; and 3.) community water distribution. We are thrilled to report that observational assessments of Splash sites were completed within four weeks of the first shock. The majority of the repair is also complete - as of July 1, 2015, 121 of our water projects are now fully functional.
There is still a long way to go to get Nepal back on its feet. The primary goal of the next phase of our work (recovery) is restoring all 171 Splash sites to functionality while supporting continued community water distribution at key locations. Thanks to your support, Splash is confident that the mission of clean water for kids is still possible. You are making a difference!
