We are planning to build a Mini Indoor stadium in our campus. This project has been under consideration for a few years. It has been proposed by Sphoorti Foundation which governs the Sphoorti Model along with involvement from the Community leaders and a few members of the Parents Committee.
The economics of developing a sustainable, modern, fit for purpose facility that will last for future generations suits a collaborative, partnership based approach involving creative and diverse capital and operational funding. Rural and suburban India is facing some social and economic challenges; including youth disaffection, an increasingly aged population, difficulties in attracting young residents, and indoor sport participation at all levels - district, state and national. The student population of Sphoorti is representative of this phenomenon.
A new indoor sport and recreation facility would provide a range of benefits to the school students who are drawn from the wider community, which is experiencing growth, including; increased sport and recreation participation, improved health, reduced social problems, raised community morale, economic stimulus and making the school a place for overall development. It would make our school meet its larger commitments towards community development and wellbeing. Our children come from the lower strata of society and cannot even hope to access basic sports facilities, leave alone indoor sports arenas. These children cannot afford paying private commercial sports facilities.
