Report for the period October to December 2017:

The centre meats the rehabilitation and education needs of students with disabilities.

There are 165 students who are regular students who attend the  classes every day. Therapy, academics and co-curricular activities are a part of their schedule.

The academic classes continued with the second term curriculum and also the multimedia class. The term end assessments and goal settings went on as per schedule.   The students of the senior class had special classes to cover the portions which could not be finished due to rain holidays declared by the Government.

The pre vocational classes had started off with new skill training in batik, block printing

Students across the classes participated in a very exciting month long Science Fest held by “Science Film Festival.” The staff and students had to watch the videos and conduct experiments, do the recordings.  All these had to be documented and submitted to the organizing agency.  This was a pioneering  effort and our students made us all feel proud with their scientific temper and spirit of inquiry.

Regular physiotherapy occupational therapy  communication   speech and computer sessions were carried out.

The occupational therapy department completed assessment and gave intervention plans for 100 students.

Assessment was completed for all the students in speech and communication. Updating of Communication devices was done on a regular basis.

Functional Vision Assessment and training continued for students at the center.

Aids and adaptations along with teaching learning material were given to  all the students.

Adaptations for leisure activities including indoor games, and cookery club were made. .

Our high school and middle school students performed Vandemathram and National Anthem in sign language at Bharat Sangeet Utsav –an inclusive music show with other main stream schools.

Another big area of activity was creative drama and theater.  Paragon Music group held a three day workshop with our students which resulted in an in house performance and also as an inclusive theatre performance

world disability day is celebrated on the 3rd of December every year. Our   students chose  to continue the battle for accessible beach.  So a week long  signature campaign  was organized  –from 3rd December to   10th December which is the Human Rights Day.  This gathered a lot of public attestation and media publicity and was the talk of the city.
