December 16th 2016 - Baark! Report #16 - GlobalGiving
Spay/Neuter Update
It has been our very best year so far and in 2016 we have completed more than 1,600 spay and neuters. WOW. As you know our goal for the year is 1,000 so we are extremely proud to have exceeded this and also extremely thankful to YOU for taking the time to donate to our cause and support our program.
Every day is different for Baark! volunteers and today we'll share a quick story of an unexpected kittens rescue.
After receiving a call from Nassau Flight Services about some stray cats that needed trapping for spay/neuter - on returning 11 cats after surgery, trapping volunteers Natalie and Sarah heard tiny meows. Following quite a dramatic search including breaking down of a door and crawling into a very small and dirty space, we found 6 tiny kittens. Luckily we were able to recatch their mamma who helped bring them up along with our fosterers. Sadly one kitten did not make it (another reason why spay/neuter is so important) However we had 5 kittens , 4 boys and 1 girl that through our network we were able to find wonderful homes for.

Education Update
In November The Bahamas Homeschool Association met up with our Volunteer Education Coordinator, Shelley, to participate in the dog safety and pet responsibility program. As they do not have a classroom, we were kindly hosted by the BHS and enjoyed a tour of the shelter as well.
We have also been in local schools and preschools with our ambassador "Mambo" spreading the message how to look after your pets and the importance of spay and neuter.
