At MEDA, we really enjoy bringing back stories of how our work, made possible by your support, is making a difference the lives of clients around the world. A big THANK YOU for your generosity toward our EDGET project in Ethiopia. As a token of appreciation for your generous gift, we'd like to share with you the following story.

Enyesh – Anticipating something positive

Rice farmer Abebayitu was selected by EDGET to become a community facilitator for the village of Dikule and create an environment where financial literacy and saving was promoted. This is how the Village Savings and Loan Assocation (VSLA) Enyesh, which means “anticipating something positive” in Amharic, was born. Read the client story Enyesh: Increased Income and Improved Livelihoods to see how your donation is changing lives of EDGET farmers and weavers…

  • Learn how VSLAs are formed and the purpose of their weekly gatherings
  • Discover the many benefits VSLA members experience when they contribute to common savings and social funds
  • Uncover what Enyesh members use their loans for and the impact they have seen from this opportunity
  • See how members of Enyesh have come together to learn new skills and cooperate on daily tasks
  • Find out what plans the Enyesh VSLA has for the future

On behalf of EDGET farmers and weavers, thank you! You’ve made a big difference in the lives of Ethiopian entrepreneurs who want to create better livelihoods for their families and make positive change in their communities.

Thank you once again for sparking growth in Ethiopia by providing rural farmers and weavers with access to better markets, new production techniques and technologies and support services. Your support has meant increased incomes and improved livelihoods – the makings for a sustainable future.
