By Casandra Gutierrez Santos | Project leader
Thanks to the generosity of our first group of donors, we have taken an initial and meaningful step toward building the scholarship fund that supports young people from the eastern region of the Valley of Mexico in their pursuit of higher education. These early contributions, totaling USD $76, represent the foundation of a broader effort to expand educational opportunities for students facing significant socioeconomic barriers.
Although the project has not yet reached the minimum funding level required to activate new scholarships, the resources received have been securely allocated to our institutional scholarship fund. Once the operational threshold is met, these contributions will be directed immediately to student support.
To award even a single full or partial scholarship, we must substantially increase our donor base and overall project funding. The eastern region of the Valley of Mexico is marked by deep inequality and limited access to financial resources, and economic hardship remains one of the leading causes of higher-education dropout. Without adequate funding, many capable and motivated young people remain unable to begin or continue their university studies.
Every new donor moves us closer to ensuring that more students can access, persist in, and successfully complete their higher education. Each contribution expands the impact of the scholarship fund by helping to:
Cover tuition costs for one academic term.
Prevent students from interrupting their studies due to financial pressure.
Strengthen a long-term mechanism that elevates educational opportunities in an underserved region.
We are deeply grateful to the three generous donors who have taken the first step with us. Their trust strengthens our commitment to the youth we serve and demonstrates that this project has real potential for growth.
We now seek to expand this early momentum. By increasing the number of donors supporting the project, we can transform these initial contributions into full scholarships that change the trajectory of young people living in contexts of high social and economic vulnerability.
With appreciation,
Tecnológico Universitario del Valle de Chalco (TUVCH)
