Rescue Displaced Families in South Sudan

Your gift to help rescue families displaced by conflict in South Sudan is reaching people in need with immediate aid and long-term assistance to resettle and rebuild their lives.

Since our last report, a total of 454 tons of food has been distributed to hungry families who fled violence in their hometowns and were unable to plant crops for this season. Your gift literally helped save their lives. Thank you!

One of those you helped rescue is a 28-year-old mother of two named Nyariak. She ran for her life when violence broke out in her hometown near the border of Unity state. Because of you, she received life-saving food. But you’ve also helped equip her with the means to provide for her family in lasting ways.

Nyariak joined a World Concern community bank, where she received small business training and a microloan to start a tea business. With her income, she has been able to purchase food for her family. She also saved up enough money to buy a goat and three chickens, which will provide milk and eggs for her children.

Nyariak is so grateful for the support. She says she plans to take another loan soon and expand her tea shop into a restaurant.

Some of the men you’ve helped are learning to make fishing nets and fish for food and income. And other families are being trained in dry-season vegetable farming so they can grow nutritious food for their families year-round.
